AARP Homeowners Insurance

Popular Homeowners Insurance *Myth*

I’ve talked with many folks who think “AARP” is an insurance program they can get from their local insurance agency... this is not at all true!

You can only get AARP homeowners insurance from a company called “The Hartford”.

Some quick background: The Hartford has been around for over 100 years and will be partnering with AARP for at least the next 10 years. You don’t really need to know much more about them.

In fact, I think it’s much more important to focus your energy and attention on learning about the AARP insurance program benefits.

What You Need To Know About AARP

First off, AARP *does* have an insurance policy that covers 100% of your home if it needs to be rebuilt…

That’s very important… far too many families learn the hard way that their coverage wasn’t enough when disaster strikes!

You can also opt for what AARP calls a “Deductible Forgiveness” benefit...

Here’s the basic idea: if you experience a loss of $20k or more, they’ll wave up to $5k of your deductible.

This is especially a benefit to families who haven’t built up specific savings plans to deal with emergencies like these!

As for your protecting your personal assets – furniture, electronics, clothing, etc. – they will actually replace your old items for *brand new* ones. No depreciations are taken into consideration like with many other homeowners policies!

Now For A Disadvantage… (You Didn’t Expect It To Be *Perfect* Did You?!)

If you go with the “basic” plan your personal assets are only covered up to $5K...

Most homeowners have property worth much more than that… just think about what you would lose if your house burnt to the ground!

Of course, you can pay always extra for more coverage but most people overlook this and find out only when it’s too late!
